All the hoopla about a government shutdown has hit the airwaves and here's my take:
The American people have been in a slow cooker crock pot for decades being given the long con that their government can and should do more for them. In fact, one Obama ad coined the process as “cradle to grave” depicting the government “helping” a young woman from her birth to her death involved all along her way. I'd like to point out that this approach to government is only possible when individual Citizens abdicate their responsibility and therefor their freedom. Giving over ones own life's responsibility for well being is a form of suicide…suicide of the soul and very spirit God has gifted us. The concept of being made in God's image is at least expressing the notion that there is tremendous potential in each and every one of his humans and though in this universe of dichotomies, slave must exist if freedom is to exist. As with dichotomies, one is necessary to contemplate or understand the other…opposite poles if you will, like positive and negative. I suggest a new dichotomy be born Citizen vs Government…one cannot exist without the other…BUT, this particular dichotomy has a special feature in that Government exists only at the pleasure of the Citizen. The Citizen being the real Sovereign created in the image of the Ultimate Sovereign, God. Now what fool would give up his or her sovereignty by abdicating their right to be happy- miserable, rich-poor, successful-failed, free-obedient, independent-dependent, right-wrong, full-hungry, reaching-withdrawing and many more all at their own acquiescence or abdication. That is rhetorical, but let me posit an answer…about half of the US population, and I suggest it is primality the political Left. The Left has long been a form of socialism and communism selling their special brand of “care” and love" through a collectivism that itself serves as a dichotomy to individualism. Ah, rugged individualism is such an ancient idea, to be truly a modern society we must act in tandem for the collective well being. OK, let me explore that a bit. The collective well being could readily be considered the Constitutional elements of government providing To form a more perfect union: Create a stronger, more unified nation than existed under the weak Articles of Confederation.
- To establish justice: Ensure a system of equal and fair law for all citizens.
- To ensure domestic tranquility: Maintain peace and order within the country.
- To provide for the common defense: Create a national military to protect against foreign threats.
- To promote the general welfare: Allow the government to act for the well-being of the people, such as by funding infrastructure.
- To secure the blessings of liberty: Protect the freedoms and rights of citizens and future generations
Each of these has its opposite forming the dichotomies of the evolved government that is now shutting down…establish Injustice, ensure domestic chaos, provide for war, promote general instability and secure the horrors of enforced restrictions. OK, you might do better voicing these but they suffice. I dare any reader here to find me wrong in saying that the Constitutional provisions have not been so perverted as to make the Government an systemic obstacle to the primacy of individual Sovereignty. No revolution has been based on less than some nightmarish result from a King, or would be King in form of government rulers snatching away in one way or the other individual rights to personal Sovereignty. Yet, such claims to having that personal Sovereignty are deemed archaic at best and perceived by those who would rule as its enemy. In the context of this Government shut down it has one big flaw…IT IS TEMPORARAY. I personally believe any shutdowns of those agencies that rule over individuals permanently shut down would act like a slap in the face and to at least some part of the Citizenry, wake them up. Necessity to for ones self alone would create a renaissance or return to a more responsible Citizenry. Of course it could also, like in the UK spur discontent in the “care and love” of the Government (think Leftist Governments) withdrawing their affections. A spurned lover is always a dangerous thing.
I have never advocated for no government. If man is to associate with others, some forms of agreements as to how it gets done must be present for a society to exist. There is nothing bas about reasonable pro survival agreements. The social contract, as it were, is or should be based upon such agreed behaviors and rules that can, act like the grease to human coexistence and cooperation and the curbs on its road wherever that road is going. Freedom is tricky business because it is messy. But the natural law in play is that survival or you might say success for any free individual is dependent upon useful agreements and adherence to them for the common benefit of all. That kind of collectivism results from wise exercise of ones Freedom. The other type as the Leftists promote, demands obedience, Freedoms dichotomy and of course is the essence of the elite ruling class. This elite class is not synonymous with a wealthy class who play by the agree societal rule and succeeded…the key difference being the desire to rule over an inferior Citizenry. Being a good person yourself almost blinds this factor because evil is hard to fathom.
So. when we hear all the clap trap about how destructive a Government shutdown is as something horrid and to be feared, I say CELEBRATE IT. If wisdom where to break out, we'd find ways to ensure much of this current Government remains shut down. That would in my view bring about a new Renaissance that the likes of William Wallace, Robinhood, Rob Roy, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson et al…the Rousseau-ian premise that governance is dependent upon granting and agreeing to limit some of their liberty to the common good and benefit of all thereby still maintaining their sovereignty in that they also maintain their right to withdraw such acquiescence. NOW is a good time to withdraw the permissions granted to the government and regain personal sovereignty by firmly yanking back responsibility for ones life, liberty and pursuit of happiness which brings back ones Freedom. If only in ones individual ways, you might say local, any regained Individual Sovereignty would inherently be a return to the image ones has been created in. Could this be the proverbial Armageddon battle between good and evil? Well I'd say it serves.
Just sayin'.
