I will turn 75 this upcoming July. Though I have my issues, I am doing pretty good. My mind still functions but to say at my best life's level might be a stretch. I enjoy getting up, working, having some exercise and caring for the herd. My age seems well suited to shoveling horse poop.
With age comes experience and perhaps increased understanding and some wisdom. Wisdom is an amalgam of experience, discernment of importances and meanings and ones predictive abilities. I have acquired some Wisdom. To apply Wisdom one must have some personal certainty in the rightness of judgements made.
With our Presidential election choices consisting of two men older than myself, I can some learned judgments about the situation. Firstly, the two candidates are very different people leaving age pout of it. No doubt, I favor Trump. Adding age back in I still favor Trump. He is still pretty sharp, lucid and capable of speech. Whether his mind is at a good working level can only be ascertained by acuity tests and observations. He has taken acuity tests and passed with good results. Will Biden do that? It is doubtful. As for observations, Biden fails miserably on that count and Trump excels because he is so visible with all of his rally's courtroom appearances and interviews. He likes being seen.
Great thinkers in history have often been wise old guys. Not to exclude wise old women, because many are in there too.
I have serious concerns about Biden without his age considered but they escalate to alarming levels when it is factored in. If ever the 25th Amendment should be impolemented it is now for Biden. But then I would have to write about Harris and that is truly a frightening prospect.
Yes, age is just a number, but when tied to Biden…my Wisdom suggests we are screwed. Trump's VP pick will be important.
