The debate was as expected and no one made any severe missteps nor did neither candidate smoke the other. It was not a game changer.
Those who backed Harris coming in will remain with her. Those who backed Trump coming in will stay with him.
Perhaps an Independent or two will decide for one or the other candidate based upon the debate but even that may be left to the ads that are running.
It is still a close race and I still prefer Trump 8 days a week.
The economy may or may not turn before the election but it is destined to turn soon. Maybe in early 2025 after the swearing in ceremony. Will the left be gracious and accept a loss? We shall see.
A Capital Gains tax increase will cause or greatly deepen a market turn and I believe that could happen quickly if Harris wins the election. The smart money might use all time highs or near highs to sell into willing retail buyers and begin a stealth exit. Getting out while the getting is good so to speak.
I hope to bring an update on my recent symposium soon. Til then, you still have time to maneuver a bit for 2024.
