Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I think many will agree that seeing 2022 as a print is good news. What will 2023 bring? I have a few viewpoints on that question but will favor optimism in my own approach to it.

I offer the old adage, "If you don't have a plan, you are planning to fail".

A platitude to be sure, but a very good one if a bit haggard.

In my life, some big events have happened. I've learned that the ones you can see coming at least bring a chance to bolster against their outcomes. Some things simply come upon you and you can't see them coming and as a result they take you by surprise in a nasty blindside. This applies to all areas of life, especially where criminals and governments go wild.

Though a specific threat can be countered by specific preparation, it's the blindside or unpredicted black swans that catch us off guard and vulnerable. The best that can be done is to plan for broad contingencies and use your experience and perhaps history, recent or otherwise, to guide a path through it all.

There are times when sheer will to survive is the best indicator of potential outcomes. When wills get tested new heroes are born. That applies to big and small stages alike.

For 2023, have the will to make it against whatever is presented. Plan for what you can see and what you cannot see. In all cases do not shut down you awareness. Be sharp, see what you see and don't let anyone gaslight you. You needn't be paranoid but you should also not be all trusting. Enter the year with optimism and a dose of skepticism. They are not mutually exclusive.

Good luck and Godspeed on the journey.

Best,
