Memorial Day's original purpose had nothing to do with big discount sales or backyard BBQs…
Memorial Day remembers the fallen. It has over time embraced past and current members of the armed forces and honors them for their bravery and sacrifices. I say it is a deeply important Day. Can you imagine going into harm's way knowing you may not walk out or ever see your loved ones again. This devotion to Country should not be squandered on spurious wars but kept true to defending the Constitution, our great lands and people from our enemies. I can only say how deeply sad it is for any family to lose a son, daughter, husband, wife, father or mother to anything less. Meaningless wars waged by idiotic politicians for reasons unknown to the population is demeaning to to our soldiers who take risks for the right reasons and are willing to give their all when called upon.
To all past and present members of the armed forces of the United State of America, Thank you!
