I am so glad to be here to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. It's a complicated holiday being partly a mercantile event and partly a religious one. Both are Traditions and I for one think they are the most wonderful time of year.
If one were to chart the state of the world on Christmas Day year after year say from Dickens time to the present, I think the affairs of mankind would be on a steep downtrend. But that can't be allowed to hide the good done by so many. Indeed, life advances on the backs of men of goodwill and declines at the hands of evil done by hideous agencies protecting self interest…it isn't too far fetched to say many are psychopaths. But we endure and we survive.
Since Christmas is a time of good cheer, I will drop my usual skepticism and cynical bent, to say we have great hope. Great hope for peace, great hope for more benign or perhaps helpful government policies, great hope that our children will have better educations minus useless DEI, and a return to a Military whose mission is peace through strength and an end to nation building out of paranoia or fear of letting others have a piece of the pie. All of these and more bring hope.
This Christmas, celebrate the traditions of your family, do not fear being a Christian if you are one, and be boldly of good will.
Best to You and to All a Good Night.
