In a previous life, I wrote and produced music. Many types, styles and both instrumentals and vocals. My history dates back to age 10 when my Mother asked if I wanted to learn to play an instrument. I said yes, the piano…she came back with Banjo, and we settled on guitar.
I took to it well looking to Buddy Holly, Elvis, later the Beatles for inspiration. But my guitar teacher, a notable, grounded me in much more than pop music and later that served me well. I actually landed a full time job teaching guitar myself at age 13 and took home good money all while attending high school…jeez I was a workaholic. I enjoyed teaching and later taught music at Sacred Heart of Mary all girls Catholic H.S. which was quite an experience. I eventually lost my teaching fever and favored live performances playing in many good bands. Chicago had a thriving entertainment scene and we were always somewhere on Rush Street, the most frequented night club area on the near Northside. I had a blast.
Live performing made way for writing and producing music which was my devotion. Brother Ken and I formed a label and had some great successes including a Disco favorite Lady Lady Lady by the Boogieman Orchestra. It's all over Youtube so check it out. My 80's band CITIZEN was a one album wonder and to this day I think it would have been a terrific vehicle for making statements as the band did so well.
Later, my career was dotted with several business successes and that ran its course as did the marriages I had at the time. A return to writing and performing my own music started in earnest after I sold my Engineering Company and I retired from trading the US Long Bond …I hated it anyhow.
I wrote and produced 3 CDs, Marier: The Otherwise Idle Hour an eclectic collection of orchestral music, Marier's Variety Pack and Marier: 3Es. All quite different. On Marier's Variety Pack can be found Nazi Love. It's a prescient societal commentary about the Left's Elite few taking over using debt, control of money and heavy indoctrination through the schools. I won't say more, just take a listen.
