Perspective

I have been MIA for a while having several things occupying my time. There are a lot of pieces in motion of late and I thought a perspective to be in order.

My surroundings are generally quite peaceful. The sun rises and sets and the winds, gentle or not, blow. I occasionally enjoy a rain storm but in the high desert not that often. The area does have fire from time to time and thankfully this season has not been the worst of them. I visit the horses and donkeys and keep my hand in their care shoveling copious amounts of poop. Talk about job security. Yep, generally peaceful.

TV, radio and the Internet are the combined media transmitters and it is hard to function in society without some connection to one or all. They eventually get into my peaceful world. What elections are made as to the channels and sites used is important. Certain channels will have a political bent one way or the other and they can and do become self fulfilling echo chambers. In my experience, people seldom tune into outlets or programs that do not agree with themselves. I get how comforting that might be but it does keep you in the dark on what others may be thinking. It's good to know if not understand different viewpoints.

My take is that the different viewpoints are highly engrained into the US population and neither side has a spectrum but rather are definitively opposed. This divided nation of ours has had some rough times from inception including the bloody 1860s Civil War, various wars and break outs against communism and of course the seemingly never ending rally against discrimination. What exactly is the divide that is so palpable now? I believe it is simply collectivism vs capitalism. Collectivists want Equal outcomes and Capitalists support equal opportunity. Surely the espoused equality of men took some refining but I think we have done the work and consider the US not to be a racist country. This is also part of the divide at least in the loud rhetoric coming from the Left. Saying we are racist often enough convinces some that is so. That fits into the enormous gaslighting that takes place in the media. The idea of not believing your own eyes is somewhat pervasive.

I am typing on September 3rd 2024. The US Presidential and Congressional election is just 2 months away. Are we going to have a fair election? Wil we have an election at all? Will both sides allow the peaceful transfer of power or will their be another civil war? These are real questions.

A good percentage of voters on both sides say that violence will ensue no matter who wins. More say that it is rigged. Fewer voters believe it will be a fair election and do not trust that the outcome will be valid. This is a bad set of opinions. Trust comes from consistent behavior and attitudes toward truthfulness. In a society where the Institutions become the source of double speak untruths and attempts to gaslight, that is what you get. We have a society where fewer and fewer believe our institutions and our media and that condition is ripe for upheavals. In this confused malaise, the tendency to accept all manner of bs as fact happens. The sheer volume of untruths spoken by politicians is astounding. They actually cover up truth and if you watch the Congressional hearings you will see that on full display. Presenting all the facts and following them BEFORE making judgement is a keystone to any concept of Justice. We just have so little of that until you get into a truly unbiased and fair court. There is far too few of them around anymore as the NYC's Judge Merchan illustrates. The SCOTUS might be fair but it is divided down political lines most times so perhaps not. When I see decisions of 6-3 or better, it gives me some hope that the SCOTUS is remaining the fair arbiter it was intended to be.

I decidedly favor the Right and will vote for trump and other Republicans in November. I feel there is little but yet still something Trump can accomplish. Harris in my opinion would be a complete disaster, probably worse than Biden has been. No matter how often she flip flops her real colors are those of the communist. She wants equal outcomes and not success based on an equal opportunity to succeed on ones own merits. She is simply a pandering liar and does not demonstrate an intellect other nations will respect. This difference is very clear to me. I do wish we had other choices but even RFK Jr. went with Trump and that says something and says it loud.

Let's keep our heads, use good analytic skill and vote for the best outcome for the USA. That will have the two main sides at odds which is the norm. But this time it seems different in that neither side seems all too willing to accept a loss. I suppose it is that serious now. The Left insists that Democracy will end under Trump, but it didn't end in his last term so what that is based on is bs. The Right insists that our country would be ruined if Harris wins and that is based upon her record in power. It seems an easy clear choice, but hey, that's just the way I see it and for now, that is my Right.

Best to All.
