Another mass shooting of school children has fallen upon us. A tragic event that will change lives forever for those who remain.
It has become commonplace to use these horrid events for political purposes throwing out he various haggard platitudes. Our thoughts and prayers are fine but healing takes time and quiet reflection takes privacy. Shoving a microphone in some poor souls face to get newsworthy comments about how they feel now that their daughter or son is dead is abhorrent.
The politicians seem unable to wait an hour let alone a day before citing the terror as fodder for their agendas. It is now the norm, but nonetheless still egregious use of the suffering families.
Even Biden got on a mic as soon as he got back from his Asian trip and though beginning in the right tone, literally seconds later went into his rant about gun control. What a classless act this man is. And the party that supports him is right in there too.
Calls to eliminate the 2nd amendment or add now restrictions on it etc., can a day but how about later after all of the data is collected and known. It seems that the only action politicians can take is knee jerk action and I out the accent on jerk because that is them.
I am not able to explain insanity or evil. But it is observable in its effect and this murderous act was evil and insane. Striking out at innocence is an act against us all and humanity suffers.
I make no claim to be the smartest guy in the room but I can observe. One observation I made is that in the midst of the rally cry to ban guns apparently because the insane get hold of them in one way or the other killing children is countered at the time buy sending millions of armaments to Ukraine to kill. And children will be among them. That $40,000,000 would go a long way to hardening our schools and that would be an effective action. As has been noted, guns don't kill by rather people do. I admit that is a trite statement. I say focus on the people who by their actions commit these heinous acts and give them the help they need. That could mean sequestering from the rest of society either by way of conviction and imprisonment or institutionalizing them in the hope that they can be bettered. Personally, I see little evidence that the truly insane are ever helped in any meaningful way but at least isolation is a defense from bad actors.
Forgive my own rant but I simply had to say something.
God be with those children and their grieving families.
